The 65-year-old is set to leave Town at the end of the month after eight years, initially as head of education before taking on his current role in 2009.

The MK Dons have confirmed Mick Harford’s appointment as assistant manager to Karl Robinson, as reported by TWTD last Wednesday. At the end of April, Blues boss Paul Jewell said he was hoping to add Harford to his scouting staff full-time, the 53-year-old having worked part-time for Town during the latter part of the season.

Exiting midfielder Grant Leadbitter’s agent has confirmed that his player is in talks with Middlesbrough about joining them on a Bosman free transfer this summer. Boro have long been seen as favourites to sign the 26-year-old, who confirmed his Town departure at the end of last month.

Blues midfielder Ryan Stevenson will be cheering on his former club Ayr United in their Scottish First Division play-off semi-final second leg against Airdrie United on Saturday. Stevenson, who was with the side he supported as a youngster from July 2007 and February 2010, was at last night’s first leg at Airdrie which ended 0-0.

Town travelled to Doncaster this afternoon for their final game of the season without former skipper Grant Leadbitter, who has decided not to remain at Portman Road after his contract is up at the end of the season. The Blues were already short of midfielders for their lunchtime clash with relegated Rovers (KO 12.30pm) with Luke Hyam injured, Lee Bowyer released and Lee Martin and Ryan Stevenson both having missed training due to injuries this week. Youngsters Byron Lawrence and Joe Whight have both made the trip.

Academy central defender Nicolay Schrøder has joined hometown club Frigg Oslo on loan in order to get games under his belt after an injury-hit season with the Blues. The second-year scholar, who was with Frigg prior to joining Town, has had his time at Playford Road extended until January having missed much of the 2011/12 campaign due to tendinitis.
